I know nothing about this photo. For all I know, it's a picture of three people at a church conference. Still, it, at least to me, has a 1970s cocaine fueled party feel to it. The sort of past people hide from their children. Why, when I was your age, I stayed home and read the Bible. I didn't drink or use drugs.

A Vacation In Hamburg 9
Time for a little bit of color from some true found photography. I'm not going to bother with typing out all sorts of info on part 9. Click on Hamburg Vacation Collection in labels for the back story and to see more images from this lot.

Ooops
I'm a lifelong atheist who, as a child, was forced to go to church. Things like Sunday School and church-sponsored children's parties were held in the basement. I lived for those times when someone dropped something, tripped, or made a mess of things, and I wasn't the only one who felt that way. Even the believers needed a break from the boredom of Sunday mornings when we all wanted to go out and play instead. Dated 1961.

A Vacation in Hamburg 4
No, I haven't lost interest in this blog. As I mentioned a few posts ago, money is tight right now, so I'm not buying a lot of old photos. It's not that the actual photographs are all that expensive, but I buy a lot of my images at antique stores I pass on my way out of L.A., and I just can't afford to travel right now. So, rather than letting things go too long, I'm returning to this small collection of true-found photographs. Literally, I found them on the street. A couple of these are dated "July 1989" so I'm going to assume they are all from the same year, if not the same month. We've got some stylish young Germans in the top photo, and a couple of snapshots with murals painted on the walls. I've speculated about this in an earlier post. Much of Hamburg was destroyed in World War 2, and I was wondering if Hamburg was trying to evoke its past. And what's with the out-of-focus photo of a photo hanging on the wall? A relative, perhaps. A Vacation in Hamburg 3
A brief return to a collection of true found photographs, literally found on the street. Anyway, it looks like the interior of a Hamburg restaurant. None of these photos have anything written on them, but a photo from an earlier post was dated 1989, so I'm sure these are from that year as well. Click on Hamburg Vacation Collection in labels to see everything that's been posted. Lots more to come, but there will be a bit of a wait.

A Vacation in Hamburg 2
A quick turnaround for part 2, but after this one., there will be a bit of a break before I post more from this collection. The top photo looks like it's probably a private home, perhaps a German relative's house of the vacationers. Written on the back, and the only photo with any notation, "6 JULY 1989." I know that a large portion of Hamburg was destroyed during World War 2, which makes me wonder if the modern buildings of Hamburg were painted to give a medieval feel to a rebuilt city. Click on the Hamburg Vacation Collection in labels to see the rest of the lot. At least once I get around to putting them all up on the site.

Mr. Sensitive
About six or eight months ago my computer died and with it, my old, yet quite good scanner. Basically, it wasn't supported anymore so I couldn't download the software off the web, and so it went in the garbage. Anyway, I got a really good deal on a new one. In other words, free. Unfortunately, apart from being free, it also doesn't have a color correction setting, so this is what the print looks like.
So, Mr. sensitive, the guy with the guitar that all the girls loved, which means that all the other guys hated him. There's a processing lab stamp on the back, just the standard "KODACOLOR PRINT" logo, plus a date, "MAY 67PA" I don't know what PA stands for.

Juanita Waters the Lawn
On one hand I hate the color restoration setting on the scanner. It's different from the image I have in hand. On the other hand I love the color restoration setting because it allows me to see what the photographer saw when he opened up the envelope of newly printed images. Written on the back, "Sept. 1972, Juanita."

Slumber Party
I do love the color restoration feature. Dated "NOV 69" so it's either early Christmas with all those candy stripes or a slumber party with the sleeping bag and all those feet.

Music To My Ears 18
Finally, the end. The last of The Music To My Ears Collection (Click on in labels to see all.) I don't think this one is the oldest, but I wanted to save it for last because, in the background, you can see a head shot seen in an earlier post. It looks like Ann Parker, or Mary Reagan, or Ruby has had a long show business career. Not a star, but as a working entertainer. Something few pwople are able to pull off.

Music To My Ears 17
I suspect this one is a bit older than the last couple of posts, but these aren't dated so it didn't occur to me to do those two last. So, for those of you who wonder why color prints fade and, more than often than not, end up either a red or yellow color, color film, slides, and prints are made up of three dye layers. Yellow, magenta, or red, and cyan, or blue. They fade at different rates. To see more, click on Music To My Ears in labels at the bottom of the post. Only one more to go.

Music To My Ears 15
Is this the same woman who has been seen throughout this collection? I'm not sure she is. The shape of the face looks different, but then again, it's not a great angle. Written on the back, "Ruby's Corn Patch 1970-August-Reno." Click on Music To My Ears in labels and take a guess, same person or not.

Music To My Ears 14
I haven't posted much lately, so there's a pretty good gap on this collection, and if anyone wants to catch up, click on Music To My Ears in labels to see what's already been posted. It looks like our singer has aged a bit and may, perhaps, be retired. Written on the back, "5-11-68, Monsignor & Loud Mouth." I'm sure that's a reference to her singing career. And just for the hell of it, I used the color restoration setting.

Party Time
This one's going to the last from the throw-in file for awhile. So, there's a clock on the wall, it's ten after eleven, it's dark out, so it's P.M. Too late for dinner, so it has to be a party. The color restoration setting really worked well on this one.

Two People Sitting On The Couch
Every so often I'll buy an envelope full of photographs. I've noticed that, more often then not, there's a breakdown where I really like about a third of the pictures, I kind of like about a third, and the last third are sort of throw ins. It's not so much that the images are completely without interest. If nothing else, they show how people dressed and carried themselves, but few collectors would ever buy them individually. Anyway, from time to time I'll post some of the throw ins. I'll probably do five or six and then return to things a bit more interesting. I can't decide if the color restoration setting on the scanner made things better or worse.

Growing Up In Poverty
I know what it's like, though the poverty I lived in was a bit more genteel than this. It's not a pleasant way to grow up. I hit the color restoration setting for the bottom shot for something a bit closer to what the image looked like before the inevitable color shift started.

Swollen Legs
There used to be this guy who lived in my neighborhood. He had swollen legs, far worse than this lady's. He wore shorts, and wandered up and down the street, pushing his walker before him. I always figured he was trying to keep the circulation in his legs going, trying to avoid an amputation, and trying to save his life. Then one day, he disappeared. I've always wondered what happened to that guy. I wonder what happened to this lady?
