The other side of the previous post. The top photo is a postcard. As usual, when posting an album page, I show the whole page to show position, then the other photos individually. Click on The Trips Collection in labels to see the rest of the album. and fair warning, it will be a while before everything gets put up.

The Trips Album 8
It's been a long time since I've posted anything from this photo album. The fact is, it's a real pain in the behind to disassemble the pages, scan, and then replace the page in the album. Call it laziness if you want. Anyway, this album is another example of true found photography. I was walking down the street, there were a bunch of garbage bags on the sidewalk, and this album was sticking out the top of one of the bags, and since it wasn't covered in some sort of nasty crap I wouldn't want to touch, it came home with me.
Chitzen Itza was a large pre-Columbian city built by the Mayans. It's located on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. Chitzen Itza is translated as at the mouth of the well of Itza. The Itza were an ethnic-lineage group that once was politically dominate in the Yucatan.

A Vacation in Hamburg 12
Well, I haven't been posting anything for a while, and my only excuse is sheer laziness. I just haven't felt like it. So, now that I'm back, I thought it was time to put up the final five photographs from the Hamburg Vacation Collection. (Go to labels and click on that to see the lot. There's no rhyme or reason to the order, so start anywhere.) To recap, if I were to give an honest name to this blog, it would be The Newly Purchased Photography. Almost all of the photos I put up have been bought in antique stores, thrift stores, or online. Once in a while, however, I actually do find old photos, and this collection is an example of that. I was walking along the street, and there it was. Color snapshots taken in Hamburg, Germany blowing around, and envelopes of old negatives. I thought about digging out the light box and matching up the prints to the negs, but I was worried that, on my limited income, I'd end up spending money on having prints made from any negatives that I couldn't match to a photo, so I didn't.

A Vacation In Hamburg 11
The penultimate post in this series. I'm not going to write a lot about this selection of true found photographs. All I'm going to do is recommend that those who are curious, to click on Hamburg Vacation Collection in labels, to see the first 10 posts, and to read about how I actually found these photos on the street. I don't know when I'll get around to the final chapter of this series, so be patient.

A Vacation in Hamburg 10
I sometimes wonder about my fascination with other people's photographs. I kind of get the really old stuff, but these street snaps from Hamburg, Germany are from 1989. Hardly antique scenes. Anyway, more true found photography. From a street in Los Angeles. Click on Hamburg Vacation Collection in labels to see the rest of the photos from this lot and get some more info on them. The photographer seems to be interested in the Beer Dorf, or Beer Village, in English. Right next to a Chinese restaurant.

A Vacation In Hamburg 9
Time for a little bit of color from some true found photography. I'm not going to bother with typing out all sorts of info on part 9. Click on Hamburg Vacation Collection in labels for the back story and to see more images from this lot.

A Vacation In Hamburg 8
There's not much to say about this collection that hasn't already been said. This collection is true found photography. I found them all on the street. Some are dated 1989, so I'm assuming that they are all from that year. To see other photos, click on Hamburg Vacation Collection in labels. There are many more to come, but I'm not sure when I'll get around to posting them.

The Trips Album 6
It's been a while. This is a really big collection of a traveling family's many vacations. Every time I post something I've got to take the album apart and then put it back together again. Needless to say, it's going to take some time. So, we're still in Mexico, and it's almost impossible to see it from the scan, but the middle photo is dated "JAN 74." As usual, I'm putting up the whole page to see positioning, and then a separate scan of each individual photo. The top image is a postcard labeled "Uxmal, the middle snapshot "Nunnery" and the bottom. "Rounded Pyramid." Click on the trips collection in labels to what's been posted.

Ooops
I'm a lifelong atheist who, as a child, was forced to go to church. Things like Sunday School and church-sponsored children's parties were held in the basement. I lived for those times when someone dropped something, tripped, or made a mess of things, and I wasn't the only one who felt that way. Even the believers needed a break from the boredom of Sunday mornings when we all wanted to go out and play instead. Dated 1961.

A Vacation In Hamburg 7
More German street scenes, and another of those weird German living room shots. The living room photo has a date written on the back, "9 July 1989." Click on Hamburg Vacation Collection in labels to see more.

A Vacation in Hamburg 6
Once again, tourists in Hamburg, Germany. These are true-found photographs. I was walking down the street and there they were, blowing down the sidewalk. Very few of these photos have anything written on the back, but a couple are dated 1989, so I'm assuming that they were all taken around the same time. Some of the buildings in these photos are painted with a medieval feel, and this is just a guess, but Hamburg was heavily bombed during World War 2, so an attempt to give Hamburg a feel that it had before the war.
