Bow Tie and Glasses Guy

 

I just bought a small envelope of group shots.  This one is the classic two-thirds of a couple of couples shot with the other girlfriend taking the picture.  Is it just me or does the guy wearing the bow tie look ever so slightly demented?

Once again, and for the last time, a visit to our visually limited family.   In the first of the three posts, this little girl was seen without her glasses.  I grew up in a poorish part of the country, and for a lot of kids, if they needed glasses and their parents couldn't afford them, well too damn bad.  Click on The Specs Collection in labels to bring up all three parts.

Okay, I scanned a number of square format prints into the computer, and for some odd reason, I didn't bother to look at the back before uploading to the blog.  So, as an addendum, written on the back, "Maria Sompgna, Carol Mercusic, Feb. 56." 

Carmen With Her Award

Written on the back, "CMF Convention award dinner Carmen w/award June 1968."

Unfortunately, the print isn't sharp enough to read what's on Carmen's award.  So, what's the CMF?  There are a lot of possibilities, but I've got two guesses.  The first is The Country Music Foundation.  The circular design at the top might be a 45 record.  And the other, The Christian Missionary Fellowship.  Both were around in 1968.  The country Music Foundation was founded, in Nashville, Tennessee in 1964, and The Christian Missionary Fellowship was founded in 1949, at The Manhattan Christian College, in Manhattan, Kansas. .  I can see the big hair and the cats eye glasses on church ladies and country singers.  Too many choices.

On one hand, there's something very Woodrow Wilson about this man.   And then there are the diamond tie pin and Rudolph Valentino sideburns.  Kind of half nerd, half gigolo.
