The Family That Stares Together, Stays Together

 I've mentioned this before.  I didn't start this blog to share my found photography collection with the world; I started it because it was scattered all over the place and had become too large to easily view.  Anyway, I found an old box of photos while cleaning out a closet and wasn't sure if I had already posted them.  I have, after all, been at this for more than 15 years.  So, I laid out a dozen or so of them on the table and went back and had a look at everything that's been posted.  It took a while.  The idea was that if my small sampling hadn't been added to The New Found Photography, I'd assume that none of them had.  None of them had, so the good news is that I don't have to buy any more photos for at least a few months.  And no, I don't think this trio is on something.  

Summertime Santa

  

Another example of true found photography.  I walked over the hill to Hollywood yesterday, and there this was, just lying on the street.  It's a little weird to post a photo that is probably less than six months old, but then I tell myself that the 100-year-old snapshots that get posted were once less than six months old. 

Baby Boom

 

 I don't have an exact date when this photo was taken, but it looks like it's probably from the late forties through the early fifties, those years after World War 2 when all people wanted to do was embrace the ordinary.  And why wouldn't they.  

Drive West on Sunset to the Sea

 

I purchased this photo online and have no idea where it was taken, but as a resident of L.A. I like to think it was taken on Sunset Blvd.  But why is there a baby crawling down the street?  I guess everybody wants to go to the beach. 

Fun in the Forest

  

I bought this photo right here in southern California, and even though this is a fairly old photo, I have to say, the location looks familiar.  Perhaps one of the picnic areas in The Angeles National Forest.  I have to admit, though, I'm probably projecting.  There is the edge of a picnic table in the lower right corner, so perhaps that's why. 

Uncle H.M.

Written on the back, "Uncle H.M. Boardman Cousins Arthur Lee & Nancy Boardman."  Is that Arthur Lee or Arthur Lee Boardman? 

Bottle Fed

   

Someone cut the top off of this photo to feature the baby and her bottle.  My best guess is probably around two-thirds of the image has been trimmed off.  Dated "JUN 55."  

That Stinks!

You can tell!  There is a lab stamp on the back.  "Fox Full Frame.  Fox, Co.  San Antonio, Texas, October 1957."

Inabelle and the Baby

I'm fairly certain that the very faded writing on the baby photograph reads "My Nephew."  What, no baby seat! 

Long Barn 2

In a nutshell, I didn't want to put eight photos in the same post, so I'm just finishing up.  I have no idea if this is the Long Barn Lodge that burned down or the one that's still there.

The Wall

As I understand things, we may be building a wall on our southern border at some time in the near future.  Stamped on the back,  "Foto Ruciger 28.IV.51 Mexico D.F."  Also dated, "IV-26-1951."

Baby

As I've noted before, I'm not really found of baby pictures. Still, I sometimes buy envelopes of old prints, and every so often there's a baby picture. I never throw them away, but most will never see the light of day. All things considered, this one's not half bad, so it becomes the exception.
