I've got a lot of photos with something written on the back. This is the only one I own where the caption is typed. "Dick and I in front of the house." It must have been an interesting family.

The Car Crowd
One one hand, I found this photo in the same antique mall and the same booth as the picture in the last post. One the other hand it's a different format, and on glossy, rather than matte. So, Maybe a 90% chance they're from the same source, though perhaps from a different trip.
Written on the back, "3 of the car crowd. Mr & Mrs Kaught & son Robert." The first time I looked at this very small print, I thought that thing in the background was a giant stump, but after I scanned it and blew it up, I saw that it was a cabin tent. There's even a folding chair. Car camping, as old as cars themselves.

The Here, There, and Everywhere Collection-Joe & Dick Again
Joe and Dick in front of a different house, reinforcing my father and son hobo theory. Click on The Here There and Everywhere Collection for more photos and information.

The Here, There, and Everywhere Collection-Joe & Dick
After yesterday's mansion monstrosity photograph, the more modest home of Joe and Dick in Englewood, Colorado. Then again, perhaps Joe and Dick were father and son hobos who stopped by the home of a distant relative.

In the Summertime
With one winter storm after another pummeling the east coast, I thought I'd remind people that summer is coming with a look back at "JUL 69" I grew up in a small town in western Pennsylvania, and every time there was a blizzard, people would wonder how they were going to survive the big storm. Same way they always did.

No It's Not.....
Harold Lloyd. Same glasses but it's not him. So was this a popular eyeglass frame design or was this guy a fan?

Scotland 1926
It's not a postcard. I know it looks like one, but it isn't. This is one of those photographic mysteries that a photo collector runs into from time to time. It looks like a commercially produced image for sale to the tourist trade. But then again, if this was a pro shot, wouldn't the photographer have removed the clothing thrown on the ground beside the child? And wouldn't he have moved the parked car out of the frame? Then again, even in 1926 Scotland, which is what's written on the back of the photo, how often would a person run into a scene like this? Perhaps mom took a picture of husband and son on the way to the Highland games.
