Polaroid, Old Style

 

This reminds me.  I need to go to the camera store and buy some Polaroid film.  I wish Impossible Project hadn't stopped making Spectra film.  I liked that format.  Anyway, this really is an old-style Polaroid film that required a paper cover to be peeled off the image to complete processing. I'm fairly certain this is a Polaroid Series 20 film, made for the Swinger camera model made between 1965 and 1970.  Of course, the film packs were manufactured long after the Swinger went out of production, so this photo could have been taken after 1970, but the well-groomed hippie beard on dad screams 1960s.  

Music To My Ears 10

It's time to return to this musical family collection.  Ii still don't know the real name versus the stage name of this lady and her husband and partner.   Anyway, from now to the end, no more stage shots, no more studio portraits no more pictures of our singer belting out a tune.  There is however a daughter.  Written on the back, "Xmas 1964."  And it's a Polaroid.  Click on Music To My Ears in labels at the bottom of the post to see more.

Old Polaroids

Here's a fun fact, old Polaroid photos have a distinct chemical smell.  I'm talking about the ones from the fifties, sixties, and seventies.  This one is dated "1965." 

Stick It In the Eye

I don't know why they're playing with that guys eyes, but at least they're not sticking their fingers in his nose.  And yes, those yellow streaks are where the Polaroid paper didn't peel off properly.

The Drunk in the Background

He might not be drunk, but I suspect he knew what it was like.  Take a close look at the table, and Polaroid photos with their unique pull tabs can be seen.  There's just a bit of the brown staining, common on early Polaroid photographs, were part of the image is underdeveloped, along the left edge of this print.

What's This Thing?

Gotta love this one.  We've got a guy, on a boat, holding a Polaroid in one hand, and what looks like it could be a camera case, a conventional film camera case, in the other.  He's got this "I don't like instant photography" look.

I used the color restoration setting on the scanner on this one.

The Italian Mason

As a rule, I crop out captions, but let's be honest, the caption makes this photo far more interesting.  Written on the back, "Topping off. 6/20/80."  Well, I guess you have to top off when mixing cement.
