Joy

 

Written on the back, "Sept. 7, 63 Joy.  After Millies Wedding."  After Millies Wedding is written in a different ink and handwriting.  It was kind of shaky, so I'm thinking that some drinking was involved when Joy and Millie were looking at pictures.

Is she a bit old for prom?  Perhaps some sort of college mixer.  Anyway, she's got the whole wrist corsage thing going on.  This is a textured print,  which makes it difficult to get a really sharp scan. 

1947

I've always maintained that part of the fun in collecting old snapshots is speculation.  This one's dated "March 15 1947."   So, three years earlier, was she in Manzanar?

Fancy Dress

No name or date.  This one was part of a lot.  Anyway, at first I thought of it as a throw in, the type of photo that gets thrown in a box and forgotten.  But, after awhile, it grew on me.
