School Girls and Caskets 3

And so it ends.  This is the last of this mini collection.  We can see the Inter State Casket Company sign two more times as well as the untrimmed gymnastics photo that first showed up in part one.  The top photo is a bit off.  So far this collection has only had photos of school girls but those two are boys.  I like the bottom photo because it looks like a group of locals are sitting high enough, on the other side of the school yard fence, to see the girls in formation.  The comfort bedding advertisement lists two cities, Chicago and Kansas City, so maybe these pictures were taken in one of those cities.  Although KC, Mo versus KC,K is anyones guess.

Needless to say click on School Girls and Caskets in labels to see all three posts.

A Day Late

I suppose this one should have been posted yesterday for the Memorial Day holiday.  Oh well, it's only a day late, so why not.  The fact is, these patriotic celebrations make me a bit fearful.  I've noticed most people aren't fond of my rejection of American exceptionalism and all the military trappings that go with it.  I keep expecting that some guy, all decked out in American flags, is going to beat the crap out of me when I question the sense in having the world's largest military, and our growing ease with its use.

Anyway, for what it's worth, I'm not a pacifist.  Give me a good reason to support a war and I'll do it.  I won't be happy about it, but I will.  It's just, that in my life time, there haven't been that many American wars that I thought made a whole lot of sense.  Too, I kind of feel that the European powers, in their colonial period, broke the world, and I'm tired of spending American treasure and American blood to solve problems created by the Brits and French.  Sykes, Picot anyone?

Patriotic Girl Scouts

Anyone who follows this blog, and there are at least nine of you, knows that I don't like it when dealers break up collections and rip photos out of old albums. Well, these photos were glued in too well to be ripped off the page, so someone cut them out with a pair of scissors. They did a good job, because the photos pasted on the back side weren't damaged. And no, I'm not 100% sure these patriotic young ladies are girl scouts, but they are wearing uniforms, and I've found photos of girl scouts from the 1920s wearing similar looking uniforms.
