I have to say, I've become addicted to the color restoration setting on the scanner.  Written on the back, "Madonna Inn, Aug-1970."  The Madonna Inn is still in business.  It's in San Luis Obispo, California and is noted for its theme rooms.  Yes, they do have entertainment.  I have to wonder, how long can a lounge singer expect to work.  Click on Music To My Ears in labels to see more from this collection.

Is this the same woman who has been seen throughout this collection?  I'm not sure she is.  The shape of the face looks different, but then again, it's not a great angle.  Written on the back, "Ruby's Corn Patch 1970-August-Reno."  Click on Music To My Ears in labels and take a guess, same person or not.

 Unless I missed one, this is the last of  the black & white images in this collection, so that seems to me to be a good point to take a break.  Written on the back, "Mommy & Daddy Aug-1970-San Luis Bay Club."  I looked it up and there is a San Luis Bay Inn, in San Luis, California, and their website lists entertainment.  Now, is Mommy, Ann Parker, in her underwear, or is that a really ugly swimsuit?   I'm guessing underwear, and I'm guessing that this couple is headed down to the lounge to do a set.  Click on Music To My Ears in labels to see more.  When I return with the color snapshots, I'll finish things up.  Say, in about a month.

Air Vietnam

When I first saw this postcard I immediately thought CIA, but quickly realized, no that was Air America.  Anyway, I'm kind of a transportation buff, and I like old airplanes, so what the hell, I bought it.  Air Viet Nam, as it's spelled on the back of the card, was founded in 1951 with a fleet of Cessna 170's.  Not an ambitious start, but then the original purpose of the airline was to connect small, rural villages with cities.  With the beginning of the Vietnam war, the airline had a major expansion.  Lot's of soldiers needed to be moved.  For flights in country, they mostly used prop planes, like the Douglas DC-3, 4, 5, and 6.  For overseas flights, jets.

On the Beach

Los Angeles now has a light rail to Santa Monica and the beach.  It's no longer necessary to sit in traffic and pay $15 to park.  This is not Los Angeles or Santa Monica. Dated "JUL 70"
