I'm always a bit wary about what's written on the back of photos. I buy them at flea markets, antique stores, and on eBay. This picture was purchased in an envelope full of snapshots and "EM 65" could refer to almost anything. Still, the hair and clothes could easily be from 1965, and Em could be short for Emma or Emily, so Em from 1965 it is.
All images in The New Found Photography are from my own private collection. I do not reblog or use any photos from any other source. All photos are either original prints or prints made from negatives in my collection. Remember, you can always click on an image to see it in a larger window.

Don't Take Our Picture
Someone always has to take the picture. There's a camera case hanging on the back of the empty chair, but his companions seem to be going out of their way to ignore the photographer's presence. Or were they? Perhaps our photographer wanted a candid feel to his picture. Anyway, someone cut the top half of the picture off, making it close to impossible to identify the location.

Drinking Flapper
But what is she drinking? Coffee, tea, beer, or something stronger? Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong year. The roaring twenties would have been great fun. Of course, the great depression and World War 2 would have been really miserable.

Crazy Uncle in the Background
It looks like he's determined to make others pay for not being the center of attention, while the more subdued cousin just sits off by himself, ignoring everyone.

Dorothy
Well, it's a wallet-sized photo, and when I worked in photo labs, I hated printing that size. You don't know how hard it is to dodge and burn an image that's this small. So, she looks young, so there's a real probability that this is a school photo, and it's also been hand-tinted.
