All images in The New Found Photography are from my own private collection. I do not reblog or use any photos from any other source. All photos are either original prints or prints made from negatives in my collection. Remember, you can always click on an image to see it in a larger window.

Throw In on the Porch
Every so often I buy an envelope full of old snapshots. Usually, there are only so many prints that I want, a few that are interesting, but I wouldn't buy them as individual prints. And then there are the throw-ins, pictures I'd never buy in any other way. This is one of those throw-ins. Probably suburbia from after World War 2. Note the air-conditioning unit in the window, so someplace with hot summers.

Santa Atalina?
Santa Atalina? Well, it looks like the "C" was obscured, so from the good old days when day trippers headed to Catalina for the glass bottom boat, swimming, the sun and sea. And let's not forget, the bars.

Stilts
At least I think the kid is on stilts. I'm still trying to figure out what that long pole is used for.

Swedish Portraits 3
I can't imagine that all of these photos from Swedish Photographer Arvid Kjerling aren't related in some way. Some are clearly from the same family, others could be friends. Click on Swedish CDVs in labels to bring up others. Eventually, there willl be seven of them.

I'd rather Be Sailing
I'm 66 and I never been sailing. I've been on boats, crossed from England to France, Port Angeles to Victoria, and of course Santa Catalina off the coast of southern California. I've also been on docked sailing ships that have been turned into floating museums. But under sail, going from point A to point B. Never, and I don't think I'll ever have the chance.

Swedish Portraits 2
Well, the lady on the left is the same woman form the last post, so if nothing else we know that this photo goes with the previous. I was able to find out a bit about the photographer Arvid Kjerling. He was born in 1864 as Karl Teodor Arvid Kjerling. He opened his first photo studio in 1891 in Trollhatton, and moved his business to Karlstad in 1892. He was successful enough to have opened up additional locations before his death in 1917. So, not a long lived person. Click on Swedish CDVs in labels to see more.

Swedish Portraits 1
I just picked up some CDVs that were taken in Sweden. I'm trying to buy a few more, so even though there almost all certainly from the same family, I'm going to spread them out, one photo at a time. They'll all be identified as Swedish CDVs in labels at the bottom of the post, so they can eventually all be brought up to be viewed together. Since these were purchased in the United States, I think we can say that they were either mailed to a Swedish immigrant family living in the U.S., or were brought here by the actual immigrants themselves.
